More About Round Rock Kids' Day

On May 7th, 2005 Round Rock Kids’ Day will celebrate its 5th annual showcase.  Since its inception in 1998,
this
FREE public service, provided as a fun kids’ fair, is spearheaded by Dr. McCartney of Rock Chiropractic and Julia Meek Chambers and is sponsored entirely by our local communities – businesses, non-profit organizations and leaders alike.  Time and money spent to put on this non-profit service to the community is done by donation and volunteering.
It is sponsored specifically for young kids and their parents, providing lots of fun, free prizes and balloons for the children, great information and an opportunity for our community to come together for a good cause – our children and our families. This is an annual day dedicated to the health, safety and welfare of children everywhere; providing a voice for local services and programs, specifically benefiting children and their families, and a venue to bring those families and sources together under a fun and friendly atmosphere.

This annual event also helps benefit Texas Baptist Children’s Home, where it is held. All funds collected locally to help sponsor Round Rock Kids’ Day 2K5 will be presented to Texas Baptist Children’s Home, after all costs of the event are met. Personal donations will also be accepted on behalf of TBCH. Our goal this year is to raise enough sponsorship and community involvement for RRKD-2K to be able to present a significant donation to the Texas Baptist Children’s Home, to thank them for their committed involvement in annually hosting this important community event.

Every year, Round Rock Kids’ Day aims to offer many fun, cool and educational features.  In 2005: Free Child Identification Booklets with Fingerprinting Kits will be provided by Round Rock Police Department will be distributed to parents, for each child present, and services will be made available to advise parents on proper fingerprinting and to help complete each child identification section. Free Dental consultations will be provided by Castle Dental along with help for the dental ID record, free Spinal Exams and Scoliosis screenings provided by Rock Chiropractic, free eye exams provided by Complete Vision, and free Polaroid photos for children are also planned (until they run out).

Among other expected highlights are: Fire Engine on display by the Round Rock Fire Department, Mobile Dairy Classroom by Southwest Dairy Museum, Rock Climbing Wall and USA Hummer by Texas National Guard and Army Recruiting Command,  Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, Face Tattoos/Painting, Dog Training Agility Program by Triple Crown Dog Academy and Happy Tails 4-H Dog Club, Coloring Table/Contest by Sam's Club and Fast Pitch provided by Round Rock Express.  Information booths planned include Rock Chiropractic (disease prevention and health promotion), Central Texas Poison Control, Williamson County 4-H, Betting Living for Texans, Agriculture in the Classroom, to name a few. There will be free balloons for kids and free kids' prizes are being donated by community involved businesses.

Further prizes, sponsorship and support will continue to help make this event of truly spectacular quality. Contact Director of Operations, Julia Meek Chambers, at 779-5978 for further details about advertising/sponsorship programs available and volunteers needed. Inquiries can also be emailed to Info@RoundRockKidsDay.org and updated information can be found on our main website at http://www.RoundRockKidsDay.org. Any help, even space to put up a poster to spread the word about this event, will be appreciated.

We are inviting all of our friends and neighbors to join us for Round Rock Kids’ Day 2K5 from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, May 7th at the Texas Baptist Children’s Home, located on the NE corner of N. Mays and HWY 79 in round Rock, TX. We look forward to providing a fun filled day for around 500 children! Children from all our local communities are welcome! But most importantly, we would like you to attend our event and/or become involved. Community support from our local leaders and families only adds to the quality and community involvement of such an event as this. We would like Round Rock Kids’ Day to continue as an annual tradition, but its existence and success depends entirely upon people of the community – people like you. We hope that you will attend and lend your support to make this an extraordinary day for the children attending.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this special day and your dedication to the families of our community!

Yours in Health,

Dr. McCartney and Julia Meek Chambers
